Gymnasium Leonhard
I have to admit that I took this picture at home before going to school. Juan knows exactly how to combine casual clothes with elegant accessories. He wears grey tight track pants in combination with black chic leather shoes. He wears an over sized black vintage blazer with two golden buttons. Underneath the blazer he wears a simple marine blue cotton pullover. The elegant shoes and the chic blazer he mixes with the casual pullover and the track pants make the outfit appear much more special and interesting. He throws his long black scarf casually over his right shoulder. The buckskinned bag lightens the rather dark outfit up.
The young woman on this picture wears the popular “nerd glasses“. She wears clunky “adidas” sneakers in combination with grey washed out skinny jeans. At the moment many people combine skinny pants with clunky shoes as you can see looking at other examples showed on my blog. Underneath the blue “adidas” down coat she wears a fake fur gilet. The red scarf fits well to the blue coat. As school bag she uses the very stylish cloth bag on which I already commented in the previous chapter.
The student on this photo wears a grey-pink woollen rough-textured scarf combined with a sweet skirt with similar colours that is frayed. Underneath the skirt she wears black stockings and black ballerinas that are barely visible. The rather short coat has a voluminous cut. The design forms a balloon and the round-formed shoulders of the coat underline this cut. The coat is decorated with three shiny black buttons.
I’m happy with the picture because in the background you can see written on a poster “Fondation Beyeler”, a little detail that I find nice.
On this picture you can see a young woman wearing a classic oversized Norwegian pullover with snowflakes and snow crystal. She uses the pullover as skirt. Underneath the pullover she wears shiny leggings. It is quite popular to use pullovers or big t-shirts as skirt at the moment and it doesn’t matter if the shirt or the sweater is very short because often leggings are also accepted and used as pants. The woman wears a big woollen hat. The leather bag is very beautiful and fits her style.

Jenny Holzer
The Asian woman you can see on the picture is very special and unique dressed. She combines three different green colours together but still they harmonise perfectly. If she had combined similar green colours they would have ruined the outfit. The light green skinny jeans fit the special dark green coat. The coat is quite lovingly processed. The borders are sewed with an intense red coloured cloth that matches nicely the green colour of the coat. The borders give a nice form and structure. The ends of the coat are round which stands out especially when looking at collar. This detail makes the coat so extraordinary. The third green appears in her bag. The style of the bag is very English. The typical English style will be very trendy this winter. Big clothing stores like “Globus” sell this style.
The snakeskin shoes are not that well chosen because since the rest of the outfit is rather special she could have combined it with simple accessories. The shoes as well appear a bit clunky what does not fit to her since she’s quite delicate and small. I stopped this stylish young couple on their way. The blond woman a wears voluminous fur gilet that she combines with the simple colour black. She wears a black sleeveless silk blouson that is decorated with a bow tie. She stays quite masculine wearing pleat-front trousers. The style that women are dressed masculine comes from the jazz age. At that time women started to think independent. They didn’t want to depend on their men anymore and showed that by wearing short hair and dressing more masculine by wearing trousers. The style of the roaring twenties is quite hip at the moment. She combines her rather boyish outfit with black Minnetonka’s.
Her boyfriend wears black jeans in combination with black chic leather shoes. His white cardigan builds up a great contrast to the dark trousers. He wears a special blue coloured scarf that falls casually thanks to the cotton out of which it’s made.
The woman on this picture combines casual with chic. She wears a simple blue jeans and a rather plain blouson in combination with a very elegant black coat. The coats collar is furred. The cut of the coat is quite simple and straight. She wears black leather boots and a dark bronze coloured leather bag in her right hand.

Lisbon
This picture is one of my favourite on my blog I met this older man on the street of a popular and beautiful area in Lisbon. I find the picture very interesting. He is a homeless person but still is dressed quite fashionable. When I asked him for a picture he couldn’t exactly understand what I was saying but I’m relatively sure that he agreed on me taking an image.
The idea shooting homeless people comes from my role model “The Sartorialist”. I find the thought that not only people with a certain amount of money are able to dress stylish but as well people without a home.
This man wears very clunky sneakers in combination with dark skinny training pants. People that combine bright clunky shoes with dark skinny jeans are very popular at the moment. The man on the picture combines these two elements with a fine cotton jacket and a long black woollen cardigan that has large pockets.
When I stumbled upon this stylish young man he was trying to put on his CASIO digital watch. He combines a simple white t-shirt and simple blue skinny jeans with a few special accessories. His black Charlie Chaplin hat fits perfectly the white ray ban wayfarer sunglasses. The black and white colours of the two elements create a nice contrast. He wears unique chic leather shoes that are affectionately fabricated. The brown and black died leather alternate in a very special way so the shoes appear unique.
I met Andrea at a beautiful and typical plaza for Lisbon where she and her friend drank coffee. When I saw her I immediately needed to ask her for a picture since she is dressed very good. She agreed and wanted to know what I was doing. After a nice talk where I found out that she does a similar project she wanted me to visit her at her studio.
She combines many different but simple colours. The main colour she uses is black. Every little detail of her outfit is advised but at first sight you’re not able to notice that. Apparently this is her aim. She wears a quite special t-shirt that has a few golden frames printed on it. She combines the golden colour with a matt golden bracelet. The black parts of the t-shirt fits perfectly the thick black leggings, the round black earrings à la 70’s, the peep toed high heels and of course the black painted toenails. The beige base colour of the t-shirt fits the animal printed foulard that is bended around her oversized black bag. The sleeves of the t-shirt are rolled up and sewed. She wears fake Ray Bans that are compared to her head too big but this she does on purpose since oversized sunglasses are hip.
This is probably my favourite picture. Maybe it’s just because I haven’t seen a woman like her before. She would fit as well into the chapter “very burlesque” that shows me that the burlesque fashion must be quite popular not only for young people but also for the older generation. Although the woman may appear old she still seems to be young at heart and that is also the reason why the tattoos on her body don’t disturb me. So many tattoos spread over the whole body is quite special and does not appeal to everyone but this woman seems to live the wild burlesque life.
The short pony is also quite popular in the burlesque scene and as well the red died hair can be seen in the chapter “very burlesque”. Since her body is very colourful she uses simple colours to combine.
The black and white striped long sleeve reminds of the sailors look that fits her. The cliché of sailors of the past is that they had many tattoos. In the 18th century when the sailors had their first trip to foreign countries they let the natives decorate their skin as a memory of their experiences in the strange culture. The sailors apparently were one of the first people to bring the tattoos as a fashion statement to Europe.16
In combination to the long sleeve she wears tight black leggings and a wide belt that she wears high wasted. The red painted footnails fit perfectly her died hair and tattoos.
The masculine golden watch fits perfectly her appearance because she probably is quite liberated and strong. I couldn’t imagine her wearing a delicate feminine watch. Another thing that strikes my attention is, the piercing in the middle of her chest.
This man is another example that homeless people can be well dressed. When I asked him for a picture he told me to wait until he has found his pipe. I was very happy to see that it was a pleasure for him being shot.
He wears a black and brown checked chemise and combines it with a light beige blazer that has golden brooches on it. He wears a long chain with a Christian tag hanging on it. He combines his old fashioned washed out jeans with a belt and brown chic leather shoes. Although he wears a silly cap I find his outfit very nice
The simple outfit of this woman still looks very unique. Especially her shorts are very stylish. The special and luminous blue of the shorts she combines with a simple grey tank top that is decorated with a button column. She stuffs her tank top in the shorts so the clothed band that she uses as belt shows to advantage.
She uses a colourful silk scarf so her outfit appears livelier. You can see this also on image 42. It’s a very simple and nice way to spice an unspectacular outfit up. The blue of her scarf matches the blue of her shorts.
The man on this picture is the second person I photographed in Lisbon. He wears a CASIO digital watch. In addition to the stylish watch he wears very fashionable glasses that are known as “nerd glasses”. They are so popular that even people without amblyopic wear them.
The rest of the outfit is rather simple. He wears a white tank top with dark blue jeans and Vans sneakers.
I met these two guys you can see on the picture at the metro station. The man on the left gives a new example for wearing “nerd glasses“ only he wears a different frame. He wears a quite clunky watch . Although the whole outfit is rather simple the t-shirt has a special print in gold on it.
The man on the right has a funny statement written on his t-shirt.
The young student you see on this picture was quite shy when I asked him for a picture but agreed. I was pleased because I find his outfit special and nice.
He wears an oversized lumberjack shirt combined with a simple grey t-shirt that looks a bit like the typical undershirt fathers wear under their chemise. Not only the lumberjack shirt is very popular and often seen on my blog but also the shorts that end above the knees. He wears his belt quite special and if you look more carefully you can see his colourful underpants.

Poisoned Ivy
I stumbled upon this young woman on my way to the young art fair “Poisoned IVY”. She wears a beautiful blue and white coloured lumberjack shirt that she wears on purpose too large. The young fashionable woman combines her lumberjack shirt with salmon skinny jeans which underline her feminine figure . For me the colour combination is quite new and extraordinary but although I usually prefer simple colours this combination is very stylish and unique. The black ballerinas with a white front are very similar to the ones that Chanel designs. The design of the ballerinas makes a simple shoe look special and stylish. She combines her fancy colourful outfit with a simple big chocolate brown leather bag that completes her clothing.
The young man on this picture wears a black v-neck shirt. At the moment they are more popular than ever among men. He combines his black shirt with chic black leather shoes and casual skinny jeans that make the outfit look more comfortable. The combination of chic elements with simple things is quite fashionable and popular.
This artist gives another example for combining chic accessories with something casual and simple. He wears a very elegant black blazer and classic shoes. He makes the outfit look more casual in combining the chic shoes and the blazer with simple blue jeans and a shirt that can be buttoned up. He prefers to leave the buttons open so the t-shirt looks like a v-neck.
My impression of the young woman on the picture is that she seems to be very elegant and creative. She combines a simple outfit using black with a colourful and unique scarf.
Using one accessory to spice a whole outfit up makes the clothing appear very elegant since you don’t use to many different elements and colours. The cut of the black coat is simple but still unusual. The rolled up sleeves appear pointy like the collar. In addition to that the collar is larger, what is very new. Another detail is, the button column that only continues up to the first half of the coat so the coat automatically creates a balloon form at the second half of the coat. The colours of the scarf fit perfectly the rest of the outfit like for example the light yellow of the scarf is repeated in the oversized pullover. She wears a golden CASIO digital watch that already is seen on other pictures posted on my blog. So apparently these digital watches have to be a must this year for fashionable people.
Again I took a picture of a man wearing a v-neck shirt. The neckline of the marine pullover is quite large. That makes the sweater fall very special. Since the v-neck of the pullover is that extreme it falls over his shoulders.
Very en vogue this year was and still is the cloth bag that you usually get in a stylish clothing store when you buy something. A very famous cloth bag that of course Karl Lagerfeld wears, is the bag that has “KARL WHO?” printed on it designed by Naco Paris. Since that cloth bag is that famous many people create it by themselves. In combination with the marine blue pullover and the blue cloth bag he wears washed out drainpipe trousers and chocolate brown leather shoes.
The woman on this picture has a quite masculine and baggy style. She wears grey drainpipe trousers that look a bit too large and mixes them with colourful sneakers. When I first had a look at the picture I thought she’s that kind of woman that doesn’t care much about what she combines but in fact I was wrong. Matching to the scarf, the sneakers have yellow shoelaces. Her washed out pullover fits the colour of the “nike” sign of the shoes. The shirt she wears underneath her pullover matches perfectly the main colour of the quite clunky sneakers. I find it very interesting that although she uses a lot of completely different colours the outfit still looks good.
